About the Founder

Trista Maltby founded The Heirloom Collections to ignite a love of aesthetics with others. She believes that sharing passions are what enriches lives.
Trista’s background began in art history and museums. She obtained a Masters Degree in Art focusing on museum and gallery operations, which was completed entirely in Florence, Italy. Her graduate thesis studied the revival of curiosity in the postmodern museum, while making parallels to the historical 16th and 17th century "wunderkammer" or cabinet of curiosities (link to thesis here). This experience allowed an opportunity to implement her own educational program at the historical Palazzo Vecchio Museum.
Trista went on to spend several years as a gallery director, auctioneer, and art consultant at the largest privately owned gallery. She has assisted thousands of clients from around the world acquire some of the most sought after artworks in the art market, including master works by Durer, Rembrandt, Picasso, Miro, & Chagall.
While leading a successful career as a fine art consultant, Trista kept exploring her love for vintage fashion and design as well. Fashion and decor go hand in hand with art, and is another form of self-expression. Trista always says “what you choose to display in your home, or what you choose to wear, is an extension of your personality.”
Trista feels a strong connection to items of the past, which stems from her studies in art history, as well as her deep love for family; she believes it is the stories that keeps the past alive. It is Trista’s mission to help her clients feel these connections.
Whatever the items you choose to collect, whether it is an incredible oil painting by a contemporary artist, a stylish vintage blazer from the 1960’s, or a classic Art Deco chair, it is Trista’s hope that these selected articles live on forever in your heart as your very own “Heirloom Collections.”
